Deck the halls with vibrant colour! Stylist Wei Tang used a scrapbooking technique to create these stunning hanging decorations, sure to brighten up any room. Simple and fun for all the family to make.
Tools required:
Sheets of colour paper • An eyelet kit • Scissors • Paperclips • Hole punch
step 1
Cut the papers into different length strips, all 2.5cm wide.
Small decorations: Cut 1 x 15cm, 2 x 17cm, 2 x 19cm, 2 x 21cm
Medium decorations: Cut 1 x 17cm, 2 x 19cm, 2 x 21cm, 2 x 23cm
Large decorations: Cut 1 x 19cm, 2 x 21cm, 2 x 23cm, 2 x 25cm
Step 2
Line up the seven strips for each size decoration in length order, as shown here
Step 3
Gather all the ends in the order from step 2. Secure with a paperclip.
Step 4
Use an eyelet kit to punch a hole through all the strips 1cm from the edge (using a piece of wood or a cutting mat to protect the work surface) and secure with a metal eyelet. Alternatively, use a hole punch to punch a hole 1.5cm from the edge and staple underneath the hole, nearest to the edge.
Step 5
Stand the stack on its side and gather the other ends of the strips together – this will push out the longer strips to form a teardrop shape.Secure and make the hole as before. Repeat with the rest of the paper and use string or cord to tie the decorations together.
