Marmalade martini

Marmalade martini

That jar of marmalade isn’t just for toast – it’s a fabulous ingredient for a cocktail too. Mixed with gin, Cointreau and tangy blush orange juice, this is guaranteed to add some va-va-voom to your menu.

Ingredients

  • 5 blush oranges (scrubbed), (or 1 orange and 200ml No.1 Sicilian Blood Orange Juice)
  • 180ml gin
  • 160ml Cointreau (or other orange liqueur)
  • 4 tsp marmalade

Method

  1. Squeeze 200ml juice from the oranges (about 4), then cut 2 slices from the remaining orange and cut into half-moons. Half fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then add the gin, Cointreau, marmalade and blush orange juice. Shake vigorously for 30-45 seconds until the shaker is very cold (you may have to do this in 2 batches). Strain into 4 glasses and garnish each with an orange slice.

Cook’s tip

La Vieja Fábrica Blood Orange Conserve is delicious in this Christmassy cocktail, but any marmalade will work.
